About Us

The Coggin Group Story


The Coggin Group is a family run and owned business based in the heart of Lancashire. Established back in 1969 as agricultural merchants by John Coggin and his wife Stella, their son David Coggin joined in 1989 and made J S Coggin & Son one of the largest agricultural merchants in Lancashire.

With the local agricultural industry taking a hit from the 2008 recession, David repositioned the company and founded Coggins Office Furniture now known as The Coggin Group. Since then, the company has gone from strength to strength to become Lancashire’s leader in providing new sustainable office furniture, upcycled office furniture and ethical disposal.

In 2011, David’s son Sam Coggin joined the company and since then has absorbed himself in all aspects of the business and is now Director and Co-Owner. Sam’s passion for upcycling office furniture has led to the creation of the TCG Sustain brand and an increased involvement in adopting a 360° approach to business through the concept of the circular economy.

Our mission is to provide businesses nationwide with a full turnkey approach with regards to providing new and upcycled office furniture as well as ethical office clearance and aftercare.

1969

J S Coggin & Son established back in 1969 as agricultural merchants by John Coggin and his wife Stella Coggin.

1983

David Coggin son of John and Stella Coggin joined the family business in 1983 and made J S Coggin & Son one of the largest agricultural merchants in Lancashire.

1989

At this time David Coggin found himself getting requests for filing cabinets and created a new niche for the family business supplying new and used office furniture while at the same time supplying farmers with agricultural products!

2008

With the local agricultural industry taking a hit from the 2008 recession, David Coggin repositioned the company and created The Coggin Group. Since then, the company has gone from strength to strength to become Lancashire’s leader in providing new commercial office furniture, refurbished office furniture and office clearance services.

2011

Sam Coggin (David’s Son) then joined the third generation family business to learn the in’s and out’s starting his position in production, refurbishing and delivering office furniture throughout Lancashire.

2017

In  August 2017 things were to take a drastic change and we made a decision to rebrand our family business as The Coggin Group and it was this same time period our business model changed. We are now fully dedicated to providing new sustainable office furniture and aftercare, upcycled office furniture and renewal services such as reupholstery, desktop surface replacement and resizing. We also offer a nationwide ethical disposal service which offers traceable redistribution of surplus to requirement office furniture to small and medium-size businesses across Lancashire.

Present Day

David and Sam Coggin now work in tandem both bringing their own skills to the table while David now (Founder & Co-Owner) Head of Negotiations and Sam (Director & Co-Owner) Head of Operations. Working side by side has turned the family business into one of only a handful in the UK providing businesses across the nation with sustainable office furniture solutions.
